RESTCo Principal: José M. Gonzalez

Jose M. Gonzalez completed his Chemical Engineering degree in the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Colombia and is a Master of Science candidate at the Sustainable Energy program at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Mr. Gonzalez has over 15 years of experience in the environmental field working as consultant or entrepreneur in Canada, Europe and Latin America with projects in the areas of:

  • Power generation based on renewable resources and waste materials,
  • Solid, liquid and energy waste management and valorization
  • Eco-efficiency and eco-efficiency indicators
  • Cleaner production, eco-efficiency and process / systems optimization
  • Environmental auditing and site remediation
  • Training

    Mr. Gonzalez has participated in the solar energy business in the Ontario and Quebec as part of a start up solar company. Project manager for the installation of the largest solar thermal installation in Montreal. He is CANSIA certified installer for solar domestic hot water systems. Has participated in the teams, that carried out the “Study and Consultations on the Basis of Payment and Funding of Incentives on solar thermal projects” for Natural Resources Canada and that evaluated the status of energy consumption and energy projects in the off-grid Aboriginal and Northern communities of Canada for the Climate Change and Renewable Energy program of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.

    Mr. Gonzalez conceptualized, promoted and initiated the Cleaner Production / Environmental Technology Center for Colombia in a joint partnership with the Swiss Federal Institute for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA) in St. Gallen. Introduced the concept and used sustainability and eco-efficiency indicators in flower farms, paper and cane sugar mills, dairy, ceramic and wood products industries, to assess their overall economic and environmental performance.

    José holds a Certificate in Energy Programming and Evaluation from Carleton University (Carleton Sustainable Energy Research Centre).

    José has agreed to be the Vice President - Finance for RESTCo.
